This one nearly passed me by. Only by visiting the blog of fellow dark writer, Priscilla Bettis, did I notice she’d shared a link for upcoming Twitter event #PitDark.
What is #PitDark? To quote event organiser, Jason Huebinger:
#PitDark is the first and only Twitter pitch event to highlight literature of a “darker” nature. Importantly, this is not limited to horror works; however, any pitched manuscript must contain an element of horror or darker writing. Examples of such categories include pure horror novels, dark fantasy, murder mysteries, psychological horror stories, non-fiction works about darker subjects, etc. MG, YA, NA, and adult age categories are welcome.
In other words, it’s a chance to have your dark manuscript pitched to agents who are specifically looking for this type of writing. Sounds like it’s write right up my alley. And yes, I’m well aware that I’ve resolved to self-publish Guns of Perdition, and by the time #PitDark occurs, I will have my manuscript off being formatted, but it doesn’t hurt to enter, does it? Who knows, maybe an agent at Big Boss Publishing House will read it, love it, and want to print 40,000,000,000 copies? Ahem.
So, on May 21st, either be prepared to see a lot of Tweets from yours truly, or else don’t look at your phone that day!
Good luck to all who enter.
Is this just for unpublished work only? Sounds like an interesting idea…

I used to keep up with a lot of the Twitter pitch dates, but I’ve been out of the loop for a while until I read Priscilla’s post. Even if I’m not participating, I like to read some of the pitches. Good luck, Jessica!

What if sais manuscript has a publisher, only only for ebook distribution? Is it that specific pitch or if the writer can deliver the material?

Hi Marvin, I really don’t know the details of PitMad. If you follow the links in my post, it’ll take you to the page of the event organiser. I’m sure you can find your answers there.
Good luck!
