See this?? Know what it is? Anyone?
I’ll tell you what it is… it’s the most painful freaking thing in the world! This my friends, is a kidney stone.
Luckily for me, I didn’t have to endure this jagged little shard as it scourged its way down a tube half the size of the stone. Unfortunately, it was poor dear hubby who did endure said little shard.
After a morning rush to the emergency department and over 10mg of morphine later, hubby was finally able to undergo a CT scan where they zeroed in on the little bugger. We were told to go home, keep up the drugs and eventually the stone would “pass”.
By the miracle of the universe, hubby was able to keep doped up for a few more hours until it did pass. And just like that *snaps fingers* it was all over and he’s now back to his normal happy self.
Oh my god, poor hubby. Lots of get betters from this corner of the Earth 😊😊😊

Yes and mine were not small enough to pass, I went in for the procedure that used sound waves to obliterate them to a small size that can then be passed. quite an experience. I’ve heard said the pain is only second to child birth

My wife decided to pass one while she was out of town. I’ve never heard her so scared in her life as she was when she called me.

Been there, done that. Has to rank as one of the worst experiences of my life. It was a good thirty years ago and I was hospitalized for several days. In addition to the pain, I threw up in a bag on the way to the ER, threw up in ER, threw up in X-ray, threw up in my hospital room. They zapped me with so much morphine, I finally went under.
I’m glad your hubby has gotten through and is back to normal. It’s amazing that something so tiny can cause so much excruating pain.

Did they have him change anything in his diet to prevent future stones?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No 😳 they said there’s nothing they can do but just wait for it / them to happen again. How awful!

How odd. Usually if someone is prone to getting stones they have dietary changes to try to help prevent them. Make sure he at least stays away from sodas. I know that is a big thing with people who get regular stones.

Really?? Wow, we drink HEAPS of the stuff 😳😢

Unfortunately. The Phosphoric Acid in the soda makes the urinary tract more acidic which allows the stones to form easier. The fructose doesn’t help either. Just make sure he drinks LOTS of water, lol.
