I recently saw this post on Sydney’s Shelves and it tickled my fancy. So without any more waffle I give to you my version of Anything But Books. I tag you all to take up the challenge and share yourself with us as I now share me!
1. Name a cartoon that you love. Childhood or now.
Yes ok, that’s two but please, don’t make me choose.
2. What is your favourite song right now?
So normally this would be a really, really difficult, damn near impossible question to answer. There’s just Too. Damn. Many. However, in the last two years, I found bliss. And now, because of these two adorable bastards –
– my favourite song right now is Carry on Wayward Son.
3. What could you do for hours that isn’t reading.
Well, writing obv. I write for me and I write for work so yeah, I can sink many hours into the chair getting a deep, butt-groove going on before I get up and creak away. Gaming. And of course see question 2.
4. What is something that you like to do that your followers would be surprised by?
Uh, sleeping in? Most people see me as pretty motivated and, ahem, uptight. So it might surprise many that I adore sleeping in to ridiculous hours and essentially wasting half the day away.
5. Favourite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?
Depend on what I’m writing. Last year it was fourth century Rome, this year its the Wild West.
6. What is something unusual you know how to do?
Due to an erroneous life spent chasing the wrong career, I am a qualified counsellor and case manager. So I can shrink your head if you let me. *evil smile*
7. Name something you’ve made in the last year and show it if possible.
Yeah um, there’s heaps of written stuff. I’m just going to post an excerpt from my current series, Guns of Perdition;
The saloon doors swung violently open and a drifter strode in, boot heels thudding heavily on the floorboards. The setting sun peeked into the saloon for just a moment before the doors swung shut. The tinkling of the honky tonk piano faltered on a flat note and the patrons of the Bad Hoss saloon paused to look up at the drifter. Drinks were held mid sip, a pair of aces fluttered to the card table unnoticed and the saloon girls leaned over the second floor railing for a better look. Lonnie Beck, the clean-up boy, held his broom in one hand and shaded his eyes with his free hand to get a better glimpse of the new arrival.
The drifter continued on undaunted by the sudden stillness in the Bad Hoss. The brim of the drifter’s hat covered features and held secrets. The nonchalance of the drifter prompted activity to return to normal. The piano player began plucking the keys once more and a ruckus broke out over the snake eyes on the card table. The saloon girls turned back to their silks and lace in preparation for the night’s entertainment.
8. What is your most recent personal project?
See question 7!
9. What is something you think about often, maybe while staring out windows?
Personal disclaimer here people; I have depression, anxiety and am an INFJ. You do not want to know what I think about often. It’s loud in here. And someone cries in the corner an awful lot.
10. Something that is your favourite but not obvious?
Gaming. Correction, violent gaming. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as playing a badass mutant who runs around decapitating bandits, or punishing the poop out of some arrogant so-and-so because he looked at me sideways. Fun times. This might go a long way to explaining question 9…
11. Say the first thing that pops into your head.
I am the unicorn.
So now, over to you.
*If you’ve read this far consider yourself TAGGED. Copy and paste the headings and add your secrets and stuff… or don’t. But I warn you, if you don’t your risk the wrath of the unicorn.
